    Techno Crap

It's been a heck of a week in my corner of the world.  We've been on an electronics downspirial for a couple of months and, hopefully, it culminated this week with the purchase of a new computer for the man of the house.

About 2 weeks ago, the night before I left for San Francisco, our house was electrocuted.  Or more correctly, a good percentage of the electricals in our house were electrocuted.  The tally so far seems to be, (I'm afraid to say it's the final tally...things seem to be dying on a regular basis lately) 2 ethernet cards, a cable modem, a wireless router, a flat panel monitor, a video card and a mother board.  And to top that, the cute little ceramic heater we use in the office got fried too.  I loved that heater...it was remote controlled, it oscillated, it had temperature and fan settings and it was quiet.  It wasn't even on at the time of the strike and now it's gone .... I miss my little heater.  Oh well, life goes on.

The boy computer in the house seemed to have taken the brunt of the damage.  Over the past 2 weeks, it's been slowing dying off in pieces, so we finally just took the plunge and decided to replace the whole thing.  What a machine we ended up with!  It's really a dandy and it fits the way Joe uses a computer perfectly... but the buying... that's another story entirely, and I'll save it for a day when I need to rant.  It wasn't pleasant and let's just say that I left pieces of the geek squad scattered about our local not-really-the-Best Buy store.

On another note, electronically speaking, I just received an early birthday present.  A digital camera (thank you sweetie). It's been on my wish list for quite some time, but there were always things that I wanted more so it was sort of left as a stand-by gift.  Now just seemed to be the right time to buy.  Blogging screams out for photos, but even more pressing is an upcoming family event.  My dear sweet Whitney, (the only daughter of my Cousin Debby and my psuedo-Goddaughter) is getting married at the end of the month.  How can I let that pass without photos?

So, bear with me as I learn to point, shoot, and download.  Today, for your viewing pleasure, a few shots from my front porch.... can't you just feel your blood pressure drop?
